Nutrition and Psoriasis

There’s still no scientific study that backs it up, but in my personal experiences the food that I eat plays a role in my skin’s health. My skin flares when I indulge in any junk foods, eat tomatoes or eggplant or any kind of liquor. (Luckily to me, red wine – in moderation of course! – doesn’t cause flares)

On Tuesday, August 14 at 4pm PST, the National Psoriasis Foundation is hosting a free webinar featuring dermatologist and psoriasis expert Jerry Bagel, M.D. Dr. Bagel will provide useful information about how our diet can contribute to the success of managing psoriasis and improving treatment outcomes.

The webinar is only an hour and when you register there’s an opportunity to ask your own questions that could be answered during the session. If you can’t make it, I’ll be sure to post later this week with all the fantastic info that I’m sure to learn!

  1. You completed some good points there. I did a search on the theme and found the majority of people will consent with your blog.

    1. Hi Martin, thanks so much for reaching out and for the great information. I have not tried a gluten free diet yet, have you had success with it? It’s definitely something I will look into for more information. Thanks so much!

      1. I had scalp and nail (50% nails affected) since the age of 10. Nothing serious but ugly enough. I accepted non curability as claimed by the many dermatologists I have seen. 30 years later I went gluten free due to different set of gastrointestinal, dermatological and neurological symptoms and cured my psoriasis as a side effect. Psoriasis community accepts gluten free working for some (if gluten is the problem) but may not work for everybody. If you want to give it a try go for full blown autoimmune paleo diet. 30 days should do to see first results. Whenever my wife mourns about my new picky eating habits I just point my index finger toward my elbow (now clear of any psoriasis) and she knows to remain silent acknowledging the difference diet changes made.
